Not feeling as confident as I was last yr when I said that the Saints would go down in the first round and the winner of Pack-Eagles would go on to Super Bowl, but here it goes!
Round 1- Denver over Pitt
Other then right now, the word Tebow will not be used in this explanation, because it has nothing to do with him, promise. Pittsburgh is banged up, Roethlisberger belongs in a hospital bed, not on a football field, no Mendenhall, and due to an unfortunate disease, one of there best defenders and leading tacklers, Ryan Clark will not be playing. This game is going to be a low scoring, grind it out affair, and without Mendenhall and with Champ Bailey locking down one side of the field, I expect it to be tough for either team to put points on the board. I know Denver just scored three points against the lowly Chiefs, but in this kind of grind it out, down to the wire games, anything can happen and I expect a Denver win somewhere in the 12-10 range.
Detroit over NO Saints
Say it with me, "Matthew Stafford is an elite NFL Quarterback." 5000 yards 40 tds and if it wasnt for his counterpart in this game, Mr. Brees, people would be talking about Matt Staffords year as one of the historic years all time for a QB. While it is true that Detroit is going to have a tough time stopping New Orleans, especially after there performance last week against Matt Flynn, it might not be as hard as it appears at first glance. Of the 5 300+ yd pass games the Lions gave up, 4 were without Delmas, who happens to be returning this week. Although Breezey torched them in there first meeting, the Lions had a wr playing secondary for parts of that game AND outperformed them in almost every meaningful statistic except score. That was all without the boy named Suh as well. Unfortunately for the Lions, they also outperformed them by a lot in committing penalties, committing 11 penalties for over 100 yards. This game is going to come down to turnovers, and as good as Breezeys numbers are, New Orleans can still turn the ball over. If the Lions clean up their penalty issues a bit, this game will come down to turnovers, look for the Lions to win that battle and the game.
Overall predictions-
San Fran represents the NFC in the Super Bowl.
They run the ball, stop the run, and get after the quarterback, not a whole lot else to say, good team all around and the only team in the NFC thats made to play late in January in Lambeau.
If San Fran doesnt represent the NFC, it will still not be the Pack
Goin w my gut on this one, no real explanation.
The AFC doesnt get any predictions because I have no idea whats going to happen in the AFC.
